Why we should not mind our mind too much
As per buddha's teaching root cause of all suffering is desire. It means that we are in continuous state of cravings which is causing us to suffer a lot all the time. We are too much engrossed by our desires so that there is no more contentment in our life.
Now if you pay attention then you will realize all our sufferings in life are somehow connected with subtle desires of tangible or intangible forms .
We struggle to get job , we have broken relationships , health issues created by mental illness , stress , tension , depression ,anxiety , worry ,suicidal thoughts , unfulfillment , emptiness , lack of something , greed , craving , desires , overthinking , insomnia all these afflictions are created by only one faculty i.e. Mind. To your surprise all these afflictions are result of ill mental health . You can get over all these by understanding the nature of mind .
We always run behind many materialistic things like success ,fame , money , status , prestige , power ,popularity , dream home / car/ life partner . All these cravings are created by your misfunctioning mind . Even if you achieve one dream you will feel happy for a moment but after few days your happiness will fed away . Again you will start chasing another dream to get that feeling of happiness. So you are in a continuous state of running behind or chasing one dream after other. This never ending craving will create more greed you will get trapped in a state of unease and discomfort. There is no end to desire in this life.
So you want to understand who is behind all this drama. To your surprise this is a creation of your mind. Mind dysfunction is the root cause of all your suffering. Mind always keep you wandering , running behind the pleasures. If you understand mind properly then you will realize that nature of mind it self is wandering which no one can control . You can only channelize you mind utility towards achieving higher goals in life.
Mind is always in a state of resistance to change. If you encounter some problem in life then your mind doesn't accept it as a part and parcel of life rather it creates more resistance to change. We suffer because our mind doesn't allow life to go with the flow. By resisting we create more pain and sufferings.
Mind always judge the life situation as good or bad . If mind feels it as bad then it will start creating resistance i.e. it will resist by saying it shouldn't have happen with me . Why always me ? why this happening all the time with me only ? More you resist the life flow , more you will suffer. Your mind is the real culprit which offering resistance to the flow of life.
What we call "MIND" is encompasses the social beliefs , social conditioning , media influences . What we have been taught by our social environments , family , friends , schoolings . Mind fully conditioned by external influences ,thoughts , beliefs . When we were child at that time we were so innocent that we need get trapped by mind drama because we were not yet influenced by or conditioned by mind. Once we start going to school then we get trapped in race of success and failures
Can we think of the possibility to practice "No - Mind" . where you don't deploy your mind in each & every occurrences. Use mind only it needed . But we are to much habitual of using mind unconsciously which is creating more resistance. No mind means using mind fully awaken state and not allowing it to create psychological drama.
Anything that you respond to is a product of your mind.
It is your mind that becomes angry.
It is your mind that becomes stubborn.
It is your mind that wants to get even.
It is your mind that is hurt.
But if you subdue your mind, tell me, where is the anger?
Where is the depression?
Where is the response to conditions? There isn't any.
When the mind is subdued there is only eternal peace and that peace is the self, consciousness.
Consciousness is always peaceful, always happy. It has nothing to do with conditions. All conditioning comes from the mind.
Therefore I say to you,
do not try to change conditions.
Do not try to change situations.
Simply learn how to control the mind by
making it passive and quiet, and then you will find that things turn out better for you than you can possibly ever hope for.
There are no problems.
There is nothing wrong.
Everything is unfolding as it should. Everything happens in its own time.
Space and time are illusions. They really do not exist. They're stationary. Causation doesn't exist either. No thing has a cause, therefore no thing has an effect. Cause and effects are again products of your own mind.
When the mind is quiet, karma ceases. Samscaras are non-existent. There never was a cause for anything. But if you feel that in a previous life you did something wrong and now you are paying the price, or if you think that you did something
wrong in this life and you’re paying the price, then you'll pay the price, because that's what you think.
There is virtually no price to pay, because nothing ever happened. If it appears to have happened to you then you have to go through the consequences of having the effect return, or karma will come back to you, because that's what you feel, that's what you believe.
It's all in your feelings and your belief system.
But if you feel as if you're born at every moment, every moment becomes brand new.
Where is the effect?
There is no time for any effect.
There is no space in which to have the effect. Space and time and causation become one, the present moment.
And if you feel like that then you can look into the future, which doesn't exist, and see what's happening.
It all has to do with your mind.
As long as you feel situations you know it's your mind that's doing it.
